There are few things in life that are as much fun as new toys (even at my age). When the invite arrived for the Prima Toys Christmas Launch Event, I didn’t hesitate. On the day a bit of a hiccup, hubby had an urgent meeting and the nanny was sick – so little Miss Lexa got dragged along.

I’m not going to drag this out, so let’s get right to what your kids will be asking for this Christmas… I’m not going to separate the gender specific toys, because I would’ve played with “boys toys” anyway.

Ben10

He has been around for 11 years now, and you guessed it, he is still Ben10. There are new figures, an Omnitrix watch (that I now proudly own), vehicles and much more.

Stretch Armstrong

This guy I saw on the show, Goldbergs. Stretch Armstrong is literally what you think… a guy that can strrrrr……..etch in all directions. If I had this toy as a kid I would’ve love trying to pull it from my sister’s hands. There are some other figures in the range, but you have to get the guy.

Tekstra Micropets

Flashing eyes and mobile little electronic pets – be warned they come with ramps and loops… They look like a lot of fun.

The Rocket…

This one is for your little superstar. It isn’t a rocket – it is for karaoke and singing! …and it looks awesome

Bluetooth connects with your phone to play music and your superstar can sing her/his little heart out. It even has echo effects.

Rubiks

This is one of the very few toys I have not mastered… but I have a friend that can teach me on how to solve the cube.

The standard Rubiks that we all have is a 3 x 3 – but now you can get a tower… I just fainted, the chaos is too much.

The great thing about a Rubiks cube, you can take it anywhere, camping, flying or even under the sea if you are so inclined.

Power Rangers

I was a kid in the 90s. They were everywhere. They wore the tightest lycra suits imaginable…and now. Action figures for everyone this Christmas – ok!

Little Live Pets

Your kid wants a pet, but you’re not really into taking care of the 6 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds, 10 bunnies and 3 rodents? This is the solution.

When the little chick popped out of the egg, Lexa was captivated. The chirpiest little chick walked around on the table looking all kinds of cute. When it stops, you give it a little love and off it goes again. No love equals no entertainment.

In the Little Live Pets range there is also Lil Ladybugs… it is cuteness overload!

Shopkins

This stuff would be a nightmare for someone like me… they have a new series! Look out for Happy Places, Join the Party and, and, and… This will be one huge collection once your kids start.

The Grossery Gang… that is a pretty gross collection that I’m sure some kids will love.

Fingerlings

This is another of those toys Lexa desperately wanted to get her tiny hands on… Monkeys that hold onto your finger or breakfast spoon. Once again, the more attention you give it, the more fun it’ll be. So cute.

Little cars

Little cars from Bhurago: the 1/18 Streetfire Cycle with Dispenser or 1/43 Ferrari Car model. Other accessories in this range include the Go Gears stunt jump playset which includes a pull back and go car with a high torque motor.

Lil Outrageous Littles (LOL)

This was my favourite… These little outrageous girls our outrageously cute. You have to peel back 7 layers to get all the pieces and then at the end you dress the doll and she has a little “room” bubble.

Seriously, do not let me see them at a shop… I will buy them. The bad news is there are 45 of these little cuties to collect!

Eleana of Avalor

A Disney toy that is going to be popular… a princess with magical flying creatures.

Baby Love

We all had something similar growing up, but probably made in Taiwan or China. Well, Baby Love is Prima Toys’ very own local doll range created for the South African market.

  • 50 phrases
  • Afrikaans (Tasha), English (Bella) or Zulu and English (Thando)
  • Interactive, educational…and loads of fun

DC Superhero Girls

As a kid I desperately wanted to be Super Woman. She was the best. I wanted a cape like hers and all the cuffs and “uniform”…but sadly there was only Superman stuff.

The DC Superhero Girls range is what I would’ve loved as a kid… a range of role play products and dress up!

Havex Machines

I can’t say it better than this, so I’m not going to even try. “Race, transform and battle with Havex Machines, the only automatic cars that transform. Drive your micro race car into a battle pod and watch it transform into a battling vehicle. It just doesn’t get any cooler than that! “

Metals Die Cast

…not just for kids! Collect your little superheroes.

DSc Girls, Suicide Squad and Marvel characters (measuring 6cm each). The Walking Dead, Star Trek, DC Girls and Marvel character figurines are also available (measuring 10cm).

Tsum Tsum (stack stack)

A new range that offers 3 different sizes of each figure… run for the hills, but not before you buy a packet!

These are my new Marvel desk buddies:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

…it’s like they never left. These heroes from the sewer has been a favourite for decades. Be on the lookout for new figures.

…Top toddler toys

Leapfrog takes the cake in this category. I am dying to get some of their stuff into Lexa’s hands. Her birthday (and Christmas) is coming up soon, so don’t be surprised.

  • Leapfrog’s Sing and Snuggle Scout and Violet
  • Leapfrog 2 in 1 Leaptop Touch
  • Stack & Tumble Elephant
  • Spin & Sing Alphabet Zoo

Little Tikes

We already have some of the “educational” Little Tikes toys but when I see a tiger chasing lights I want it for Lexa! Be on the lookout for these awesome toys:

  • Catchin’ Lights Tiger – helps baby develop balance and coordination skills
  • Movin’ Lights Monkey – encourages the development of gross motor skills
  • Wobblin’ Lights Panda – inspire baby to move and become more attuned to their sensory skills
  • Touch n Go Racers – that just go as soon as you touch the marked areas on the vehicles

Peppa Pig

When one of my friends told me about Peppa Pig a few years ago and just how nuts her niece goes for Peppa, I laughed. Well, Peppa Pig won me over, because she is one fly pig.

The new product range includes the 23CM Peppa Pig ball, the Peppa Pig 2 figure Pack, the Collectable Pack, Peppa Pig Home and Garden Playhouse and many more.

Twozies

Very smart toy makers, they give you the toy and a cube that you can add other Twozies in cubes onto. They are very cute and it would make a great collection.

Lastly, we get to the games

  • Rubik’s Build IT solve IT that comes with all the necessary parts to build your own cube… I need this one in my life because I’ve never solved a Rubiks!
  • Rubik’s Race a two player game to get your fingers and brain working- the aim is to be the first player to make the 3×3 centre match pattern and the Rubik’s Tower– the new twist on the original cube. By twist, I mean even harder than the original cube.
  • 20 Questions is a classic for the whole family. Test your knowledge of people, places, things and important dates and enjoy seeing everyone racking their brain trying to figure out the correct answers.
  • World’s Smallest sees the world’s most popular toy brands in their miniature form; from Barbie to Pound Puppies and lots more. This is sure to take adults down Memory Lane and the kids will love the tiny toys. I’m just going to say it now, I will be owning the smallest Barbies…
  • Magic 8 Ball
  • Doodletop, Rock a stack and Duncan Yoyo
  • Anti-Monopoly…

I’m out, I’m just going to go check on my toys. For more information about these awesome toys, visit www.primatoys.co.za or go to www.Facebook.com/Primatoys
