Today I’m going to spill the beans on 2 very amazing places in Carlswald & Crowthorne, Midrand. Maybe you have seen the signage, maybe you’ve been there or maybe one of your friends mentioned it to you, but I’m going to tell you anyway.

memories antiquesMemories Corner – 86 Whisken Road

Memories Corner Country Shops is a quiet old-school country village with a restaurant, shops and even a small wedding chapel right on the corner of Whisken & New Road in Carlswald, Midrand.

One of the most decadent antique shops in Gauteng, Memories Antiques & Collectables, have their showroom on the premises as well. You can find little treasures that range from jewellery to antique furniture here.

memories chapel

Don’t get me started on the beautiful chapel! The intimate wedding chapel was built with reclaimed everything – so it is really something special. Trust me when I say that you have to take a camera…

Pop in for a delightful brunch and country shopping right in the heart of Crowthorne – next to Carlswald and Kyalami – with the whole family this weekend.

The Goddess Factor Advanced Aesthetics – 120 Springfield Road

The Goddess FactorLooked in the mirror and thought you could do with a bit of help to get rid of wrinkles or a little bit of extra padding? (I’m whispering.)

The Goddess Factor offers non-surgical & non-invasive fat freeze and anti-aging solutions in a quiet country setting just a stone’s throw from Sandton & Pretoria.

This small aesthetics “clinic” is managed by Megan, an industry veteran, and the owner, Lynnmari.

PS. you can send Dad or hubby too 🙂

I have decided to reward 1 fan this year with a big gift at the end of the year. At the end of every month I will drop something new into the gift bag.

I decided that even though I love people entering my competitions, I would love getting love too. I want to know that I am making a difference in your life (even if it is small).

T&Cs

  • Open to residents in South Africa

When did it go out of fashion to be gracious? I have realised that losing brings out the nasty in people and that this behaviour is not frowned upon. When you loose, is the acceptable practice not to just congratulate, grin and move on? Is it acceptable to call another names and expect to get away with it?

Am I just old-fashioned or too sensitive?

I have always maintained that if you really want something you have to work for it – and if it so happens that you do not get it, be gracious about it. Sometimes you win – and sometimes somebody else wins.

2010 was a magical year for South Africa and for me. I finally tied the knot with my Irishman and I did it in style.

I bought my own dress, so price was definitely a factor. I went to Bride & Co and was fortunate enough to walk in on one of their wedding dress sales. It was an amazing experience. There was a sea of white dresses and (because of the sale) more were in my budget.

The first dress I chose was a beautiful all lace body-hugging number…and I fell in love with it. I took it home and I couldn’t wait to show my parents.

I wore it twice (how very fortunate). We tied the knot legally on our penthouse apartment’s patio overlooking trees and Castle Kyalami. The second time was in Mozambique on the beach with our closest friends and family.

A wedding dress is such a special dress and everyone should feel like a princess in their own.

Enough of me! Enter this fabulous competition on Twitter. @Brideandco RT each “#4 Decades of Oleg Cassini” pic for the next 4 weeks & you could win a dream dress! #4decades https://ow.ly/pN3wa
