Montecasino, the multi-award winning entertainment destination in Fourways Johannesburg, have teamed up with Kickstart Productions, the popular Durban based Theatre Company to present a fun filled family pantomime for the festive season, Sinbad The Sailor at the Teatro, Montecasino from 19 November to 23 December 2022.
It is a riotous romp over the Seven Seas, in the company of the famous sailor, Sinbad, and his madcap crew and family! With gloriously colourful sets and costumes that evoke the exotic mystery and magic of the Arabian Nights, and exciting music and dance, inspired by Bollywood, this is a unique, unforgettable pantomime experience for the entire family.
Kickstart Theatre Company is famous for their holiday pantomimes and this year is no different. The 16 strong cast features some of the cream of South Africa’s talent. Sinbad features newcomer Micah Stojakovic in the title role, Schoeman Smit as Dame Donna Kebab, Murray Todd as Long John Slither and Samantha Peo as Morgiana the Magnificent.
The delightful heroine of the piece is Princess Marina (Kiruna-Lind Devar) and the magical larger-than-life Genie of the Seven Seas is played by Yamikani Phiri with Lelo Ramasimong as the no-nonsense Ameena; Sandi Dlangalala as the deliciously vague Silly Billy Souvlaki; and Mthokozisi Zulu as the trusty pirate side-kick, Mustapha Kitkat. The ensemble is made up of Marang Khwene, Kutloano Rankoe, Hannah Rudnicki, Kyra Teague, Joshua Groenveld, Thokozani Jiyane, Lwazi Pinyana and Sabelo Radebe.
Written and directed by Steven Stead; designed by Greg King, with choreography by Evashnee Pillay, lighting by Denis Hutchinson,
Sinbad the Sailor is perfect year-end holiday entertainment for the entire family.
The Durban critics raved:
“Sinbad The Sailor is a rollicking, delicious romp which has the audience in stitches or gasping in amazement.” – Caroline Smart
“Gloriously over the top fun…. Sinbad is Panto-tastic!” – Estelle Sinkins, The Witness
“For a whale of a time… Dive in” – Billy Suter

We marathon-watched Marvel movies since last month. Last night it was Venom. The night before that it was Spiderman… Avengers, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man, Thor – you get the picture. My husband even makes us watch it in order of the storylines!
The one thing my husband has not been able to get me to watch is Star Wars… That is where I draw the line.
My favourite part of watching these Marvel movies at home is to see if I can spot Stan Lee first and loudly point him out to my husband – and to traipse from the couch to kitchen without stepping on a Lego to make popcorn! (I think my kids plant their Lego to test my spryness.)
I love Legos for kids, but the words that I have to bite back when I step on them will make a pirate blush. Lexa is already playing with small Lego – and we even have her dad’s childhood Lego in the mix – and she can build little structures like there is no tomorrow.
Disney Campaign – From Our Family To Yours
If ever there was a time to remember to keep traditions, it is in times like these. I wish I could spend just one more Christmas with my mom.
From Our Family To Yours is Disney Africa’s largest festive retail campaign to date and will offer the perfect opportunity to stock up on those gifts for every member of the family – from stocking fillers, toys, apparel, books and more.
Currently on-air and across Disney’s social pages, the festive advert features the track Love is a Compass from up-and coming UK-based artist Griff. According to the singer, “The lyrics of the track and the storytelling in the advert are powerful, and important. The theme of family and loved ones are so front of mind for many of us – especially this Christmas.” The song’s is now available nationwide here: https://WarnerMusicSA.lnk.to/CompassM7). You may also watch a behind-the-scenes interview with Griff here: https://fb.watch/1_zVyrgSMa/
Inspired by the advert, the theme songs and the message around it, starting from 1 December, five shopping malls across the country will feature mesmerising Disney plush toy-adorned Christmas trees. Sandton City and Clearwater Mall in Johannesburg, Woodlands Boulevard in Pretoria, Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Durban and Canal Walk in Cape Town will all be getting in on the festive fun and are offering a special give-back opportunity for mall-goers. When visiting the trees, shoppers will have a chance to make a donation of R50, which will secure one of the plush toys that, together with the donation, will be donated by the malls to of both the Smile Foundation (Sandton City, Gateway Theatre of Shopping) and Reach for a Dream (Clearwater Mall, Woodlands Boulevard, Canal Walk) – creating festive magical moments for the young patients and beneficiaries of these charities.
Furthermore, Disney Channel fans will be pleased to hear that Disney, together with Nedbank, are currently hosting a wonderfully cheerful competition on the channel, DStv channel 303, where 10 lucky viewers will each win a magical Christmas-In-A-Box hamper worth R10 000 each, including a R2,000 Ackermans voucher. Existing Nedbank account holders will also receive a further R2,000 cash. Entrants simply have to watch Disney Channel, snap a picture of Mickey Mouse in his Santa hat when he appears on screen and ask their parents or care-givers to SMS their details to stand in line to win.
Fans can also head to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and share their own past and present festive memories and traditions using #FestiveWithDisney and #FromOurFamilyToYours.

You know that toy that the kids think is great… and you hate it? Well, that’s Foam Alive…
The kids love the feel of the flowy, fluffy stuff. They also thought it would be funny to throw it around the house like confetti. It is fairly easy to clean up… except if it lands in your very long hair! Granted, my kids are a bit younger and it is recommended for kids 5 and up… but under supervision, I think it’s safe to say they can play with it again.
Foam Alive almost feels like water dripping from your fingers – except it’s not liquid. You can press it together but once you put it down it melts like ice cream. It’s a great sensory toy for kids.
There is one very important thing about Foam Alive you will want to know… It never dries out!
As mentioned, Foam Alive is aimed at children aged 5 and up. It is great for those who love arts and crafts – which all kids do! The range can be purchased from selected Spar stores, Toy Kingdom, Toy Zone, a small range on Takealot and Westpak as well as online from The Kid Zone.
It is quite affordable with the recommended selling price for a single pack at just over R100 and the 2 pack at R270.
Remember, you can win a Foam Alive hamper with 2 single packs and a double pack valued at R500! Go, go, go! Follow me and Prima Toys.

You can start jumping for joy and enter the competition at the bottom of this post to win a 1 x LOL Surprise Fluffy Pet. I am going to close the competition on the 31st of December with delivery only when offices open in January.
I am a big kid and love toys (probably) more than my kids. I
have a bunch of LOL Surprise Dolls on my desk because they are just so much fun
to look at. Sometimes I even let my oldest kid play with them.
What I love most about these little dolls is the surprise
factor, the anticipation while unwrapping each layer and then finally getting
to the delicious character in the middle. The tiny little body with a cute
little head and lots of personality just begs to be played with – and then you
want more…
You can also choose to stick to one range, jump to glitter,
Lil Sisters, pets or even boys. You can build a collection, swop doubles with
other enthusiasts and enjoy each amazing little character with their accessories.
I don’t want to give too much away, but they are
sparkly and the balls are not just round anymore!
Yes, they are a bit pricey – but if you keep an
eye out for special offers you can get really lucky.
You can swop outfits and accessories and pack
away each in their own little ball – or build a pod village.

LOL Surprise Fluffy Pet: The animal we got is a…
I let Lexa unbox the animal. Once she got past 2 layers of wrapping the crystal ball had glitter you could empty out. Once we got the animal this is where it got freaky. Lexa had to peel of the fur…
It was all fluffy and padded with a fabric face. Lexa first pulled off a pink ear then the rest of the fur. Underneath was a completely different animal! You will have to watch the video to get the answer to what it is.
Unboxing the LOL Surprise Glitter Globe Doll, LOL Surprise Sparkle Doll and LOL Surprise Lil’ Sis Doll
I LOVE the new globes/balls with glitter in!
I’m kicking off the competition like a layered LOL Surprise

Finally this year I will get to watch the 4th movie with my kids. I’m looking forward to catching up with the toy gang again.
