I remember in the 90s at a school concert we wore neon and hating it. I cried for days about this orange atrocity I had to wear. Then in 2012/2013 neon made a comeback.

I steered clear of the neon revival and secretly snickered at my colleague that follows trends like a shameless slut. I laughed even more when she finally admitted that the neon items was not her best fashion buy and that she only wore everything once – including the neo yellow heels.

What would happen to the world if we brought back all the old fashions? Some should be left in the history books. These include anything 80s – especially denims that you could pull right up to your ears; perms… coz I love me a lion mane.

Something that also gets me is the hipsters with spectacles that have no lens. I’m like: Waaaa, seriously? This hipster trend reminds me of the 80s – except for the gadgets. It is bad, really bad.

Anyway, that is me for today. Have a lovely day and see you tomorrow.

Did I loose touch with the real world? When did the hipster population suddenly boom?

I remember the days of the hippies (leftovers from the 70s into the 80s); the neon punks of the 80s; wannabe cool cats that ‘can’t touch this’; the move to Joburg in the late 90s; normal fashionistas in the 00s and now we have hipsters, upcyclers, recyclers, almost-hippies, rollback-80s and reality TV stars.

I still think Vanilla Ice is cooler than the arctic and wish Bieber would pull up his pants. I hate that caps now have straight fronts – or backs or sides. I can’t stand clothes that look tatty or unwashed hair of rockers/rockettes.

I am unashamedly normal with cats, a husband, city apartment and holiday home. I buy from labels to budget – I really don’t care.
