I was fortunate enough to have booked a space with Claire and Hillie at the Plascon Spaces workshop to learn a few paint techniques. The class was free but so informative – and relaxing. I think every stressed person should buy paint and just paint their house.

I have found my 3rd colour for the house!  I would like to paint the staircase (parts of it) and doors this colour. I love this minty colour, it just makes me feel calm and if I am back home in Ballito.

I’m not a fan of purple (or yellow) but free paint at a free class… I will use that purple!

Plascon has a really amazing space at Design Quarter in Johannesburg where they demonstrate paint techniques and ways you could use paint to just make your house more wow. I am definitely going to try out copper paint on driftwood. What do you think?

Red doors to me equals travel in Ireland – I absolutely love the 3 colours.

Thank you Plascon for having these amazing workshops with Claire and Hillie. I learnt so much from them and found my perfect colour thanks to the wall of paint.

Owning a beach house is not all fun and games. Each time you stay over you find so much more that needs to be done – and don’t even get me started on the cleaning!

We have now owned our slice of heaven for just over a year and since the beginning we have tried to make it ours. We started by choosing a simple colour palette – beach sand taupe/brown and teal blue with splashes of white.  Then the big buy started – beds, couch, tables, bedding and appliances. After this, the lovely task of painting the house…

We decided to DIY the painting… and we hated every minute of it. Now, more than a year later, we only have to paint the skirting and doors with enamel paint – and add a bit of art.
