Lately a lot of international brands have indicated they are coming to South Africa. While I appreciate that brands believe in my country I am kind of sad to have less things to look forward to when on overseas holidays.

StarbucksWho can remember their first Starbucks in London with a fresh passport stamp from customs? Me. I bee-lined for a Starbucks with my friend that lived in London. It was such a huge treat for him to take me there and now I can just have it while in my home town, Jozi. Thanks Starbucks…

I am a bit worried that the article mentioned that South Africans are paying to “cheaply” for coffee. I earn a pretty decent salary, but paying 25 bucks for a coffee now is already a grudge purchase for me. If they want to charge more than that I’m not too sure how many times I would stop by. I do like to spend, but I am an avid saver too.

Other international brands coming to South Africa include:

  1. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts – diet now and taste every doughnut I say!
  2. Dunkin’ Doughnuts – should I double diet?
  3. H&M – fashion retailer

Which brand do you wish would open near you?
