Yesterday I filled up my car to take advantage of the much lower petrol price.  The service station attendant was a real ray of sunshine with a big smile. I could not help myself to ask him if he was working the holidays and where he was from.

Simon worked the whole December except the public holidays. He was all chirpy about quiet Joburg. He also told me that he visits his family back in Malawi only in June and that it takes him 2 days by bus. Apparently bus ticket prices soar for December and that is why he goes in June.

I was so impressed by Simon and his upbeat attitude I actually emailed Engen H/O to let them know how he made my day.

This year, I think I am going to try pay more compliments than complaints.
