This is my day by day diary of how I am coping with a 5 day juice, smoothie and soup detox.
Day 1 of the Detox
I can do this! Loving the ginger shots, juices and smoothies for the day… soup one is where the trouble starts.
Oh my soul I cannot get this pumpkin & sweet potato soup down. My taste buds are not happy. It takes an hour to force it down.
By 5pm I am ravenous. I want something substantial. I need it! I barely make it to the 7pm soup. I barely make it to bed…
Day 2 of the Detox
Started the day with an organic peppermint, fennel and rose tea – it tasted like toothpaste.
The first smoothing of the day is called Evergreen, it just doesn’t want to go down. I keep in drinking and drinking and… it just doesn’t finish.
I got through the Swizz and Recharge smoothies, they were quite nice. Then it was a tomato soup… why am I being punished? I don’t like tomato soup at the best of times and now this…
I have also constantly chewed on a pencil today. I cannot stop thinking of a roll with crisps. I am hungry all the time time!
Day 3 of the Detox
I woke up hungry, stomach angrily growling. The mint, rose and fennel tea tastes worse today. I washed away the taste with the ginger shot… which I really like.
The smoothies went down easily, but I struggled with the soup. However, I wasn’t hungry today.
Weighed myself this morning and I lost a kilogram, it feels like my cheeks are sucking themselves in.
Day 4 of the Detox
I’m not hungry and had tea that smelled like pancakes. I didn’t like it.
First smoothie went down like chocolate. The rest was all downhill.
Day 5 of the Detox
I’m OK with my morning smoothies, but then it gets to be soup time and all I can think about is… solid food that will crunch.
By dinner I am quite full still.
First day after detox
- Lost 1.5kg.
- I’m not really hungry for breakfast, but eat toast and egg anyway.
- I would actually do this again – maybe just not the soup.
- I really liked most of the juices and smoothies.
