It’s not often that you get to hear from a Biotech company – and when they start talking about the wonders of their products, this is when the scepticism in me kicks in. I tried out the THOCLOR GF2 and I think it works else I would not have even mentioned the products on my blog.

I used the GF2 on liquid nitrogen “burns” on my skin (I had growths frozen off). I calmed the skin burning and helped with a faster healing period. I basically went from treatment to scab free within 6 days with some discoloration.

So, what is it?

  1. HOCl is the most powerful disinfectant against disease-forming microorganisms.
  2. HOCl has a highly effective anti-inflammatory effect. Whenever it is applied to a wound, it reduces not only pain but also redness associated with inflammation and swelling.
  3. HOCl is a potent wound healing agent. Wounds exposed to HOCl heal in a fraction of the time they take to heal without it.
  4. HOCl destroys biofilm and therefore quickly kills pathogens that might be protected by the biofilm.
  5. HOCl stops bleeding in an acute wound.
  6. HOCl has powerful skin rejuvenation effects.
  7. Thoclor’s HOCl does not contain any bleach NaOCl.

THOCLOR GF1 – Aftercare

This is what should be in you first aid kit. It is an antiseptic, will reduce inflammation and speed up healing.

THOCLOR GF2 – Skin Rejuvenation

This one is to help skin rejuvenate and helps to reverse environmental damage. It should improve skin texture, help age spots to fade, boosts collagen and elastin. It will also help to reduce inflammation plus it has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and can be used as a disinfectant.

I live in fear of cancer – skin cancer, blood cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer – because I’ve seen what it does to a family. Every mole or new freckle I have… I watch them all like a hawk. You see, I’m in a race to do everything possible to stay healthy and alive as possible to see my girls grow up.

I recently went to a dermatologist to just have someone else cast an eye over my freckles, moles and “the things on my legs”. He didn’t seem to concerned about any of my multitudes of whatever I have, but I still wanted the things on my leg removed – just in case.

He said the liquid nitrogen would burn and may really be painful. I didn’t feel it, it was more like a mild discomfort. It looked horrendous, angry red, ugly and with a definite need for some serious ointment by the time I left.

The next day it looked even worse. The circles where the liquid nitrogen touched my skin was filled with liquid, the skin a yellowy sickly colour. (scroll to the bottom to see a picture)

I was lucky, the day before I went to a launch for DermaClinical and THOCLOR. They talked about the healing properties and showed before/after photos but you know, I have heard of a million products like that…

Since I got the THOCLOR GF2 to take home I started spraying that onto the leg wounds  – even if GF1 would’ve been the right product. It took 4 days for the brown hard scab to form completely. It was beyond gross – my husband didn’t even want to look at it. By day 4 the scabs were starting to lift, day 6 most of the scabs we off and all that remained were pink circles.

Nearly 1.5 months later and I still have scarring, but will be treating that with a new product from Optiphi.

The images below are not for the squeamish…

Day of and day after the dermatologist visit
The during treatment shots. The black writing is how I gross my sister out 🙂
Chest you can see a slight white are; right leg has 3 pink spots; but my freezing treatment didn’t take on the left leg;

That birthday photo… I had a few requests to share from where I got the dress to “popcorn cake – how?”…

The dress – that dress is from Milady’s and is currently on sale for just over R200. I have it in olive green and red.

The lipstick – I can thank Stila for this amazing colour on my lips. It is a liquid matte lipstick in Portofino. It is probably the most gorgeous colour on me (other than red).

The cake – I saw a video about a popcorn cake and then I knew I wanted one. I didn’t use that much chocolate because I’m not the sweetest tooth around.

The Popcorn Cake Recipe

  • 400g of popcorn
  • 250g butter
  • 800g marshmallows
  • Food colouring
  • 400g of chocolate
  • 250ml whipping cream
  • 100s & 1000s
  • 4 x Spray & Cooked cake pans
  1. Split the popcorn, butter and marshmallows in half.
  2. Get your popcorn popped before starting on your marshmallows.
  3. Melt half your marshmallows and half the butter in a pot or in the microwave.
  4. As soon as it is melted stir in half the popcorn – but work quickly!Pour it into 2 cake pans and put in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
  5. Do the second batch of marshmallows with butter and add a drop of food colouring to add a pop of colour and mix in your popcorn. Pour into pans and pop it into the fridge.
  6. You can do this about an hour before you want to eat the cake. Melt the chocolate and cream in the microwave 20 seconds at a time, stir. Use the ganache to spread between the layers and on top. Add some sprinkles for more fun.

Have you heard about Dyme yet? I tried it out the other day…

Dyme is the one app you need if you are always on the go – but still need a pamper. You can book a massage, facial or lash extensions and even a hair chop. All you need to keep in mind is that you need to give at least 90 minutes for Dyme to make sure your professional therapist is available and voila!

I booked my appointment to fit into a very busy meeting and events schedule and chose a Swedish massage. My first therapist couldn’t make the appointment and Dyme immediately found an alternative therapist, Frank.

Did I mention you can choose between different levels of therapists when it comes to massages?

Normally I wouldn’t go to a man for a massage (other than my chiropractor) and when they said they have chosen Frank as my alternative I wanted to reschedule – but then I got busy and forgot. It was also the best mistake I made.

Frank arrived via Uber and he walked the flight of stairs with his table and bag. He quickly set up the space and I was kind of still thinking I should’ve rescheduled…

Turns out Frank is from Benin, in North Africa, and he was a practicing professional who specializes in fixing sports, neck and back issues. He is also amazing at just working back muscles.

So, I know you are asking if it is safe… Dyme has a few checks in place to ensure you stay safe and you can read more here: www.dyme.co.za/safety.

What are the fees?
The only fees you pay are for the treatments you book. There are no subscriptions or surprises.

I think the DYME app is a great idea and fills a niche – connecting people that are on the go with mobile beauty professionals when it fits into your schedule and where it suits you best, at home or even the office.

To become a perfumer is a path that Di was on long before she had the vision to create a fragrance that truly captures the spirit of Africa. However, once all the pieces fell into place she created Dimanzi – and you can read the first piece I wrote here.

I first used the tester I received at an event and when my husband complimented me on the fragrance I knew I had to find out more. I met Di Thompson a few weeks ago because I was intrigued to find out why she created her very own fragrance and what it represents to her.

You would be surprised to find out that Di is from the family whom the Burchell Zebra was named after; the essential oils in the fragrance is from Grasse in France; and the Zebra beads made by local women in Natal.

Read her story on An interview with entrepreneur Di Thompson, Dimanzi.

Dimanzi Eau De Parfum

The vessel of this truly beautiful fragrance was selected by the Di because of its beauty but also because it is a D for Dimanzi. Add to this the multifaceted top that reflects light and a glass bead with zebra stripes, handmade in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands, tied to the top with a black ribbon in a nod to Coco Chanel.

Uncapping the bottle is to release a floral rainbow with fresh and woody notes.

Fragrance notes of Dimanzi Eau De Parfum

  • Top notes: Jasmine, Bergamot, Pear, Violet
  • Mid notes: Plum, Apple, White Flowers, Patchouli
  • Base notes: Sandalwood, Musk, Cedarwood, Amber
